FOUNDED IN NOVEMBER 2009, FREE TIME INDUSTRIES IS A MULTIDISCIPLINARY PRODUCT DESIGN AND CONCEPT STUDIO, WITH A PASSION FOR INNOVATION. Photographs by Kyle Johnson.
While they all have positions in their respective fields [industrial design, architecture, art management, and graphic design], their hearts are always with FTI.
FTI is: Kate Bailey, Amber R. Murray, Ariana Budner, and Naomi Parker. Their work focuses on concept-based product lines that investigate materials and readdress functionality - it is their intention to provoke curiosity and enhance life through the design of everyday things. For the Spring/Summer 2010 edition of their Laser Nature line, they have abandoned convention and set off to build their very own myths; each piece in the collection tells a story of fundamental truths, anti-humanism, and black magic. A limited edition of 100 are being created, hand crafted from oxidized sterling silver, walnut, pearl, abalone shell, and re-purposed leather.
Their products are available at the New Museum, and Free Time Industries is currently in negotiations with a list of select retailers across the globe.
